Jerry McLauchlin began working toward becoming a Master Builder when he was 17 years old. Growing up on a cattle ranch Jerry learned to weld at a early age, becoming a certified welder. He worked summer jobs and while attending the University of Florida worked for one of the area’s leading General Contractors.

These experiences, coupled with his natural aptitude for creativity and technology, caused Jerry to change his major to Building Contruction.

In 1979, Jerry and a childhood friend founded FMC Construction and soon became one of the five leading contractors in Marion County. The company grew rapidly despite the recession of the 1980’s by targeting markets that were seemingly unaffected. In the early years, FMC’s portfolio was as diversified as building car washes to shopping centers.

McLauchlin & Company was established in 1986 to be able to take advantage of Jerry’s many acquaintances. Over the years, it has been Jerry’s belief to always offer a client a quality project at a fair price. “I believe honest open communication is the key to a successful project,” says Jerry, “and that my word is my bond.”

McLauchlin is a family run company, both literally and figuratively. Dean Blowers is President of the company and Jerry’s nephew. He followed the footsteps of his uncle to become educated in Building Construction and Business at the University of Florida and was appointed president in 2009.

Most of the employees of McLauchlin & Company have been with the company more than 15 years and some from the very beginning.

Jerry feels it’s his core values and constant attention to detail and technology that has led to the success of McLauchlin & Company. “Over the years I have surrounded myself with the most experienced and highly qualified people I could find,” he says. “I do not believe my employees work for me but rather work with me.”


Dean Blowers


With a Master’s degree in Business Administration with concentration in Finance and Real Estate from the University of Florida as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction, Dean is the President of McLauchlin & Company.

At UF, Dean distinguished himself by serving on the Building Construction College Council for two years, and as a member of Student Contractors and Building Association. Dean began his career in the construction industry as a Field Engineer, responsible for site layout and field supervision of a $20 million government postal facility in Gainesville, FL.

Dean is responsible for the overall administration and supervision of the entire building process. He has extensive experience in estimating and project management functions, both of which are complimentary to his role as President. Throughout the past 21 years, Dean has established himself in the medical community with projects that include hospital renovations, magnetic resonance imaging, CT Imaging, catheterization labs, ambulatory surgery centers, radiation and oncology centers, assisted living facilities, independent living, skilled nursing facilities, memory impaired and numerous other specialty medical office buildings.

Brandon Bass

Vice-President/Director of Construction

Brandon earned both his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and his Master’s in Engineering from the University of Florida and immediately put them to use in the construction industry and is the Vice-President/Director of Construction for McLauchlin & Company.

Brandon has experience in Civil Engineering, along with site design. He continued to grow professionally as a Project Engineer and was a key member of a team that constructed several assisted living facilities throughout Florida.

In his day-to-day Project Management duties, Brandon is responsible for estimating, scheduling, budgeting, cost control and Owner/Architect liaison. He also has general business duties such as management of the office and expenses, software review and implementation, human resources, reviewing and modifying office procedures, and the streamlining of project cost coding.


Larry Bush

Business Development

Leading Business Development and Marketing for McLauchlin & Company is Larry Bush, who brings more than 20 years of successful experience.

He’s responsible for evaluating potential projects, maintaining and growing relationships with existing clients while seeking out and building new relationships with future ones.

Larry, a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, also works with McLauchlin’s Senior Management Team to establish and carry out the company’s plan for strategic growth and development.
